General Rules and Policies

StatVIN is an online service acting as an intermediary between auto auctions and users, providing you with the ability to place bids through our service on the Copart and IAAI auto auctions.

We do not conduct auctions and do not own the vehicles listed for sale. We merely provide an online platform that allows you to submit bids to purchase vehicles sold by independent third-party sellers through the Copart and IAAI auto auctions.

Our Rules and Policies are intended to provide you with information and resources about our Services, as well as to maintain a fair bidding environment. In addition to our Member Terms and Conditions, the following Rules and Policies govern your use of our Services and your relationship with StatVIN. Therefore, you are required to review all of our Rules and Policies before submitting any bid to ensure that you understand the auction process and the nature of the vehicles available for purchase through our Services, which are sold “as is”.

Although these Rules and Policies are presented in an informal “question-and-answer” format, we want to make it clear that they are part of the binding, legally enforceable agreement you enter into with us when you view and accept our Member Terms and Conditions. Accordingly, it is extremely important that you carefully review all of our Rules and Policies before placing any bids.

Please remember: we are only an online service and do not make any representations, warranties, or guarantees regarding the quality or condition of the vehicles listed on our website. You are responsible for inspecting a vehicle—either yourself or through a third party of your choice—before placing any bid or making any purchase. For more information, please review our Member Terms and Conditions and visit our Help Center.

We strive to maintain a fair and enjoyable service experience and want you to be able to bid with confidence. Please review our General Rules and Policies before placing a bid on any lot.

You are required to conduct your own research.

You are required to conduct your own research.

We offer you the opportunity to find great deals on quality vehicles. However, as you may know, purchasing a vehicle through an online platform involves certain risks. Accordingly, you are required to conduct your own research to ensure that you are selecting the right vehicle for your needs.

We recommend evaluating a vehicle using multiple sources, including reviewing information provided by Copart, obtaining a StatReport vehicle history report, and arranging an inspection of the vehicle before placing a bid.

Copart, IAAI, StatVIN, and our Dealers do not perform vehicle inspections.

Although each auction listing includes certain Vehicle Information, including what may be referred to as Auction Highlights, such information is provided by the auction or the seller for convenience only.

We do not independently verify or confirm any such information, and neither we, our Dealers, Copart, nor IAAI provide any representations, warranties, or guarantees regarding the accuracy or completeness of any listing information, including Vehicle Information.

The Primary Damage listed by the auction reflects the initial damage observed by Copart or IAAI at the time the vehicle was added to their inventory. A vehicle listed with one type of Primary Damage may have additional and/or different types of damage.

Vehicles marked by Copart or IAAI as “Runs and Drives” are defined by Copart as vehicles that, at the time they were received into inventory, started (either independently or with assistance), could be put into gear, and were able to move forward. No guarantee is provided that the vehicle will start, run, or move at the time of sale.

Copart also designates certain vehicles as “Copart Select”. These vehicles are further categorized as Green Light” ,“Yellow Light” or “Red Light”.

These indicators are intended as general guidance when evaluating a vehicle, where “Green Light” is more favorable than “Yellow Light” and “Yellow Light” is more favorable than “Red Light”. StatVIN does not control how Copart assigns these designations.

If a Copart Select vehicle were purchased directly from Copart, the assigned light category would determine the buyer’s arbitration rights regarding the vehicle.

However, Copart’s arbitration policy does not apply to vehicles not purchased directly from Copart. StatVIN maintains a more flexible arbitration policy. Please refer to Section 9 of the Terms and Conditions for more details regarding our dispute resolution process.

Before placing a bid or purchasing a vehicle, you are required to obtain a vehicle history report (if available), inspect the vehicle, and independently evaluate its condition, the cost of any necessary repairs, and your ability to register the vehicle in your jurisdiction.

Please note that vehicles labeled as “CopartGO” or “offsite” are listed by individuals or companies who provide information about the vehicle and its condition. These sellers complete a basic report describing the vehicle’s exterior, interior, and mechanical condition.

This information is not verified by the auction. Unlike standard listings, these vehicles are not in Copart’s possession prior to sale.

Since neither we nor our Dealers own or physically possess these vehicles, we do not provide any representations, warranties, or guarantees regarding the accuracy or completeness of such information. In all cases, it is essential to thoroughly review and inspect the vehicle before purchase.

You must carefully review any agreements with any of our recommended service providers.

Although we may recommend or refer you to certain third-party service providers for purposes such as vehicle history reports, inspection services, transportation services, or sourcing and selling vehicle parts, any such provider is an independent third party and is not owned or operated by StatVIN.

You understand and agree that if you choose to use the services of any such third-party providers, your relationship with that provider will be governed by your own contract or agreement (if any) with that service provider.

You are required to pay for any vehicle you commit to purchase.

If you place a bid at an auction, you are making an irrevocable offer to enter into a legally binding agreement to purchase the vehicle from one of our Dealers if your bid is accepted. The same applies if you choose the “Buy it Now” option.

If, for any reason, you fail to complete the purchase, we or the Dealer may cancel your transaction, and additional fees and charges may apply. In other words, if you do not intend to purchase the vehicle, do not place a bid.

You should realistically assess your expectations.

Many vehicles offered for purchase through our website are salvage or otherwise damaged vehicles. These vehicles may have additional and/or different damage than what is listed in the auction listing and may require significant repairs at your expense. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you conduct your own inspection and research before placing any bid.

Neither we nor our Dealers make any representations, warranties, or guarantees regarding the condition or quality of the vehicles. All vehicles are sold “as is,” “where is,” and “with all faults,” without any warranty of any kind, including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Please carefully review the disclaimers set forth in our Member Terms and Conditions for more information.

You must notify our Buyer Services team of any issues before the vehicle leaves the Copart facility.

Once your vehicle leaves the Copart or IAAI facility (or any other location where your vehicle is awaiting pickup), you accept the vehicle “AS IS,” “WHERE IS,” and “WITH ALL FAULTS.

Any claims that the vehicle does not match the auction listing, as well as any other claims regarding the vehicle, must be reported to Buyer Services before the vehicle leaves the Copart or IAAI facility (or any other location where your vehicle is awaiting pickup).
