Texas splits auction inventory the same way every state does: clean-title cars — lease returns, trade-ins, fleet units — are open to the public with a free account, while salvage and rebuilt-title lots, which make up most of what Copart and IAAI list here, are restricted to licensed dealers. Our broker account already holds that license, so you bid on either kind of lot without registering a business. Auto auctions in Texas run this way whichever brand you bid at — Copart, IAAI or a smaller regional house. What follows, in order: the title brands Texas uses and the forms behind them, what a purchase actually costs, and how transport works across a state this size.

Salvage title Texas: what it takes to register a rebuilt car

Texas runs the rebuild process through paperwork, and the form numbers matter. A salvage title texas is issued when an insurer declares a total loss; after repairs you apply for title and registration with Form 130-U and attach the Rebuilt Vehicle Statement, form VTR-61. It depends on the title. Clean-title lots are open to the public through a free account. Salvage and rebuilt-title lots — most of what Copart and IAAI list at their Texas yards — require a dealer or salvage-dealer license. Our broker account already holds it, so you set the maximum bid and the car is titled in your name.

On clean-title lots, yes — a free public account is enough. On salvage and rebuilt lots, no: Texas requires a licensed dealer, and that is where a broker account replaces a license you do not have. You choose the lot and the ceiling; we place the bid under our licence.

If you are looking up how to get a state bid card for Copart, the short answer is that you do not need one to buy through us: the broker licence covers access at every Texas yard, and you never register with the state yourself.

We hold the dealer-license access Texas requires for salvage and rebuilt lots, place your bid up to the limit you set, track sale days across every yard in the state, and handle the paperwork and title transfer after you win. Transport is arranged through the same network, on the same invoice.

The winning bid, auction fees and our broker fee are due before the car is released; delivery is invoiced separately once the route is confirmed. Copart payment methods for the auction side are wire transfer and card, and we handle that payment under our account rather than asking you to register with the auction.

A copart pure sale means the lot sells to the highest bid with no reserve — whatever the number is. On approval means the seller can still accept or decline after bidding closes, so a win is not final until they confirm. Both appear on the lot page, and both change how you should set your ceiling.

Once you win, the car moves by open or enclosed carrier from the yard to the address you give us.
