How to buy at a Washington car auction without a dealer license

The yards split their inventory in two. Clean-title cars — lease returns, trade-ins, fleet units — are open to the public with a free account. Salvage lots, which make up most of what Copart and IAA list here, are restricted to licensed buyers, and our broker account already holds that license. A salvage brand is applied when an insurer writes the car off, and it follows the VIN from that point on.
