Delivery Rules & Policies

You are required to use an approved carrier to pick up your vehicle.

No vehicle may be driven off (or removed under its own power) from a Copart or IAAI facility (or any other location where your vehicle is awaiting pickup).

If the vehicle you purchased is not located in the same state as the address listed in your membership account, you are required to arrange for the vehicle to be picked up (or otherwise removed) from the Copart or IAAI facility (or other location where it is awaiting pickup) by an approved transporter.

If the vehicle you purchase is located in the same state as the address listed in your membership account, you will automatically be enrolled in StatVIN Delivery. Under StatVIN Delivery, we or a StatVIN-affiliated entity will deliver the vehicle to you for an additional fee. All in-state auction purchases require the use of StatVIN Delivery.

Auction lot locations.

Due to differences in applicable laws or the operational procedures of our service providers, your transport company may be required to pick up your vehicle from a location other than the Copart or IAAI facility where the vehicle was located at the time of the auction.

For example, even if the vehicle is located at a Copart facility in Sacramento, California at the time of the auction, the pickup location may be Portland, Oregon.

This may result in increased delivery time and additional transportation costs.

  •  Membership Fees,

  •  Auction Fees,

  •  Storage Fees,

  •  Late Fees,

  •  Relist Fees,

  •  and any other applicable fees related to that vehicle or otherwise,

or if you are otherwise in breach of our Agreement.

You assume all risk of loss or damage for any vehicle you purchase.

From the moment Copart or IAAI (as the auction operator) or the auction seller accepts your bid, you acknowledge and agree that the Copart or IAAI facility (or any other location where your vehicle is awaiting pickup) acts as a bailee of your vehicle until it is removed from the facility (or other pickup location).

You agree that under this bailment, neither StatVIN, nor our Dealers, nor Copart, nor IAAI shall be liable for any damage to or loss of your vehicle (or any part or components thereof) due to facility operations, theft or vandalism, weather conditions, acts of God, or any other cause.

StatVIN and our Dealers are fully released from any and all liability once your vehicle has been removed from the Copart or IAAI facility.

Once your vehicle has been removed (whether by you or by any person acting on your behalf) from a Copart or IAAI facility (or any other location where your vehicle is awaiting pickup), you accept the vehicle “AS IS”, “WHERE IS”, and “WITH ALL FAULTS”.

Please refer to the provisions regarding the general release and indemnity in our Member Terms and Conditions for more information.

Once your vehicle is picked up and in transit, you are responsible for ensuring that you and the carrier comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

You agree to comply with, and to ensure that your agents and representatives (if any) comply with, all applicable laws and regulations when removing your vehicle from a Copart or IAAI facility (or any other location where your vehicle is awaiting pickup), including, without limitation, proper loading and securing of your vehicle for safe transportation.

Upon your request, Copart or IAAI personnel may load or assist in loading your vehicle; however, under no circumstances shall

  •  StatVIN,

  • our Dealers,

  • Copart,

  • IAAI

be liable for any loss or damage arising out of or in any way related to the loading and/or securing of your vehicle for transport.

Separate rules apply to international sales and transportation.

Title to the vehicle for which you have successfully placed a bid or which you have purchased through us does not transfer until your vehicle arrives at the international port of delivery.

You are responsible for transferring ownership of your vehicle (including, without limitation, registering it in your name, if applicable), and you hereby release us from any related liability, damages, or losses, and agree to defend and indemnify us against any such claims.

Please refer to the provisions regarding the general release and indemnity in our Member Terms and Conditions for more information.

A Storage Fee will be charged if buyers do not remove the vehicle from Copart or IAAI in a timely manner, specifically within 3 business days after we receive your payment for the vehicle, including auction fees and transaction fees.

No buyer may pick up a vehicle directly from any auction yard. You are responsible for collecting (picking up) the vehicle at the international port of delivery.

The “Sale Date” of any vehicle you purchase is the date on which you take possession of the vehicle at the international port of delivery.

The “Sale Date” is not the date when your vehicle is picked up by the transporter for delivery, but rather the date of arrival at the international port of delivery.

Upon arrival of your vehicle at the international port of delivery, you accept the vehicle “AS IS”, “WHERE IS” and “WITH ALL FAULTS”.

Please refer to the provisions regarding the general release and indemnity in our Member Terms and Conditions for more information.

Ocean transportation of the vehicle is governed by the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA), 46 U.S.C. §§ 1300–1315, as well as all limitations of liability for damage established under such law.
