We have strict rules and policies regarding payment timelines and methods. We want to ensure that you understand them and are prepared to complete your transaction, so please carefully review the following rules and policies before participating in any auctions.
Payment Rules & Policies
All vehicles purchased using our Services are acquired through a Dealer (not through our marketplace), and all such purchases are subject to certain auction fees charged by StatVIN (“StatVIN Fees”), Copart (“Copart Fees”), and IAAI (“IAAI Fees”) (collectively, the “Auction Fees”).

You may also use our Fees Calculator on each lot page to view an estimated total purchase cost (including all Auction Fees) based on your bid amount before placing a bid.
Auction Fees apply to each vehicle you purchase using our Services. You are required to be aware of the type and amount of applicable fees prior to placing your bid.
A Fees Calculator is available on each lot page to help you decide whether to participate in bidding and determine your bid amount for a specific vehicle.
We strive to include all applicable fees and taxes in the Fees Calculator; however, due to the variability in the types and amounts of fees and taxes that may apply to a particular transaction, we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the calculator’s estimates.
Accordingly, you are responsible for independently determining the total purchase cost of any vehicle based on your bid amount, and you acknowledge and agree that you are required to pay the full amount stated in your invoice, even if it differs from the estimate provided by the Fees Calculator.
If you dispute the amount stated in your invoice, you must notify us prior to making payment. You acknowledge and agree that once the invoice is paid, no refunds will be issued for any reason, and you waive any right to dispute the stated amount.
You are required to pay all sales taxes, excise taxes, use taxes, and any other applicable taxes imposed by any local, state, or federal governmental authorities or tax agencies of the United States in connection with your purchase of any vehicle from us.
In addition, you are required to reimburse us for all sales taxes, excise taxes, use taxes, and any other applicable taxes imposed by any local, state, or federal governmental authorities or tax agencies that are incurred by us in connection with our purchase of any vehicle from the auction seller for subsequent resale to you.
You are responsible for determining the type and amount of any such taxes prior to placing your bid.
If you purchase vehicles from one of our Dealers at wholesale prices based on a sales tax exemption certificate, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless StatVIN and the Dealer from any and all losses or damages of any kind including, without limitation:
- sales tax assessments,
- penalties,
- interest,
- losses,
- and other costs or expenses, including attorneys’ fees) incurred as a result of (directly or indirectly) any determination, decision, or ruling by any tax authority that such transaction was subject to sales tax, use tax, excise tax, or any other applicable tax.
Payment for the purchase of any vehicle (including applicable Fees) must be made exclusively using one of the available payment methods, which include Wire Transfer and Stripe.
No other payment methods are accepted.
Note: That, in certain cases, due to reasons beyond our control, one or more payment methods may be temporarily unavailable.
In such cases, payment must be made using one of the other available methods. If you make or attempt to make payment using any other method, we reserve the right to cancel your purchase and relist the vehicle for sale (see below).

Payment for any vehicle you purchase (including applicable Auction Fees) must be received by 5:00 PM Pacific Time on the next business day following the auction date.
A “business day” means any weekday that is not a U.S. federal holiday.
Note: international customers must ensure that payment is received by 5:00 PM Pacific Time on the second business day following the auction date.

If full payment for any purchased vehicle (including applicable Auction Fees) is not received by the required payment deadline, you will be required to pay late payment fees (“Late Fees”). The type and amount of applicable fees are available here.
Late Fees will no longer accrue after your purchase is canceled and the vehicle is relisted for sale (see below), as well as after the vehicle is declared abandoned (see Vehicle Pick-Up Rules & Policies). You authorize us to automatically charge such Late Fees to any payment method you have used within our Services.

If any vehicle purchased using our Services is not picked up (see Vehicle Pick-Up Rules & Policies) from the Copart facility (or any other location where the vehicle is awaiting pickup) (the “Facility”) within the timeframe installed by the respective Facility, you are required to pay vehicle storage fees (“Storage Fees”).
The number of days before fees begin to accrue (typically 3–5 days after the auction), as well as the amount of such fees (up to forty US dollars ($40) per day), vary depending on the policies of the specific Facility.
You are responsible for reviewing the applicable Facility’s Storage Fee policies prior to placing a bid on any vehicle. All such fees are included in the total amount due for the vehicle, and no vehicle may be released until full payment has been made.
You acknowledge and agree that Storage Fees are charged by Copart (as the auction operator and owner of the lot where the vehicle is stored) in the amount of the Storage Fees assessed to you.
You agree that Storage Fees are reasonable and do not constitute a penalty or “liquidated damages,” but instead reflect the actual damages we incur if you fail to complete the purchase.
Storage Fees will not accrue after the vehicle is declared abandoned (see Vehicle Pick-Up Rules & Policies).
If you have saved your credit card details with us, you authorize us to automatically charge such Storage Fees to that credit card.
If you fail to complete the purchase (due to non-payment or for any other reason) by the required payment deadline, you acknowledge and agree that you are required to pay the Transaction Fee, as well as any other applicable fees.
If you fail to complete the purchase (due to non-payment, partial payment, or for any other reason) by the required payment deadline, you acknowledge and agree that we or our Dealer will cancel your purchase and request that Copart or IAAI relist the vehicle for sale through the auction.
In such case, you will be required to pay the applicable relist fees (“Relist Fees”). The Relist Fee consists of Copart’s Fee or IAAI’s Fee plus the Transaction Fee. The type and amount of applicable fees are available here.
All Relist Fees must be paid via wire transfer and are due by 5:00 PM (Pacific) on the next business day following the auction date. If you fail to pay the Relist Fees within the required timeframe, Late Fees may be applied.
You acknowledge and agree that Copart or IAAI (as the auction operator) charges our Dealers the fees included in the Relist Fees calculation, and that you are responsible for paying both the Copart or IAAI fee and the Transaction Fee.
You further agree that these Fees are reasonable and do not constitute a penalty or “liquidated damages,” but represent the actual damages we incur directly as a result of your failure to complete the purchase.
You acknowledge that we or our Dealers may (at our sole discretion) charge your credit card, apply your Security Deposit, and/or apply all or part of your wire transfer (or any other) payment (regardless of its stated or intended purpose) toward any previously existing unpaid balance on your account includingб without limitation:
- unpaid Membership Fees,
- Auction Fees,
- Storage Fees,
- Late Fees,
- Relist Fees,
- and any other applicable fees)
before applying such payment toward the purchase price of any vehicle acquired using our Services.
For example, if you send a wire transfer of one thousand US dollars ($1,000) to purchase Vehicle B, but you have an outstanding Relist Fee of six hundred US dollars ($600) related to Vehicle A, we may first apply $600 from your $1,000 payment toward the unpaid Relist Fees for Vehicle A, and apply the remaining $400 toward the purchase price of Vehicle B, leaving an outstanding balance of $600 for Vehicle B. Until the remaining balance for Vehicle B is paid in full, Late Fees and Storage Fees may apply.
Additionally, if Vehicle B is not fully paid, we may cancel the sale and relist Vehicle B, in which case we may retain the applicable Relist Fees and any other unpaid amounts from your payment balance and refund the difference (if any).
Regardless of how your payment is applied, you acknowledge and agree that we have no obligation to release (deliver) any vehicle or provide any title or ownership document if you have any outstanding unpaid balance on your account with us or any of our Dealers (see below).
You acknowledge and agree that we may (at our sole and absolute discretion) suspend your Member Account or otherwise restrict your ability to place bids if you have any outstanding unpaid balance on your account with us or any of our Dealers.
You acknowledge and agree that the “dealer sale date” of any vehicle you purchase using our Services is the date on which you take possession of the vehicle, and not the auction sale date or the date your bid was accepted.
Since you are not permitted to pick up the vehicle yourself, this means that the “sale date” will most likely be the date your vehicle is picked up by the transporter hired to deliver the vehicle to you. (See Delivery Rules and Policies.)
After your bid is accepted by the seller, Copart or IAAI (as the auction operator and the seller’s authorized agent) will transfer or reassign (as applicable) the title or ownership document of the vehicle to the Dealer.
If the seller or Copart/IAAI do not provide the ownership documents to the Dealer in a timely manner, they will not be able to provide them to you in a timely manner.
If you choose to purchase a vehicle listed as “title pending,” this means that the auction does not yet have the title. It may take many weeks for the auction to obtain the title and transfer it to us so that we can transfer it to you.
You understand and acknowledge that ownership documents of any type may be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control or the control of our Dealer, and you hereby release us and the Dealer from any liability for delays in the transfer of such documents if they are outside of our control.
Once the ownership documents are received, the Dealer will transfer or reassign (as necessary) the title or ownership document of the vehicle into your name.
Due to differences in applicable laws, the title or ownership document for your vehicle may be transferred or reassigned (as applicable) by the Dealer or by another third-party agency.
You acknowledge that, due to the nature of transactions associated with this type of sale, delays may occur in our transfer or reassignment of the title or ownership document into your name, which may be unavoidable or beyond our control.
As a result, you may not receive your title or ownership document within any timeframe required by applicable law. In the unlikely event of a delay, the Dealer will use reasonable efforts to notify you and keep you informed of the status.
Under no circumstances will the title or ownership document for any vehicle be transferred or reassigned to any person or entity other than you.
Except where we submit a title application on your behalf, you are responsible for transferring ownership of your vehicle (including, without limitation, registering it in your name, if applicable), and you hereby release us from any related liability, damages, or losses, and agree to defend and indemnify us against any such claims.

You agree that we have no obligation to release any vehicle or any title or ownership document for a vehicle, even if you have submitted full payment of the purchase price and applicable Auction Fees for that vehicle, if:
- you have not provided signed sales documents;
- you have an outstanding unpaid balance on your account (related to that vehicle or otherwise);
- you are in violation of our Member Terms and Conditions.
For example, if you purchase Vehicle A for one thousand US dollars ($1,000) (including the purchase price and applicable Auction Fees) and send us a wire transfer in that amount, but you have a pre-existing unpaid balance of five hundred US dollars ($500) related to unpaid Relist Fees for Vehicle B, we have no obligation to release Vehicle A to you (even if you believe you have paid for Vehicle A) until you have paid your outstanding account balance of $500.
Late Fees and Storage Fees may apply until your remaining account balance is paid in full. Additionally, if your outstanding balance is not fully paid, we may cancel the transaction and relist Vehicle A, in which case we may retain the applicable Relist Fees and any other unpaid amounts from your payment balance and refund the difference (if any).
You agree that, due to the binding and non-cancellable nature of vehicle purchase transactions conducted through our Services, all fees and charges (including, without limitation:
- any vehicle purchase price,
- Membership Fees (except in limited cases provided under the Membership Refund Policy),
- Auction Fees,
- Storage Fees,
- Late Fees,
- Relist Fees,
- and any other applicable fees)
are non-refundable, and no refunds will be issued for any reason.
To reiterate: except in limited cases where membership may be refundable, no refunds will be provided under any circumstances.
